Altomonte’s

Altomonte’s brings Christmas Home: New cookbook launch celebrates The Feast of the Seven Fishes, Nonna’s Sweets & 54 years of family tradition.

Posted

For more than five decades, Altomonte’s Italian Market has been a cornerstone of Bucks County, where the aromas of fresh bread, handmade pasta, and Calabrian specialties greet every customer. Now, mother-daughter duo Franca Grispino and Maria Teresa Grispino Nappi are sharing their family’s story — and recipes — in The Butcher’s Daughter: Stories and Over 100 Family Recipes from Altomonte’s Italian Market, available for pre-order at alto-imports.com/shop.

The book is both a culinary guide and a family memoir, capturing what it truly means to grow up Italian in America. From the streets of Altomonte, Calabria, to the heart of Bucks County, the Grispinos bring readers into their kitchen, offering over 100 recipes — many never recorded before — that have nourished their family and built a thriving business.

Just in time for the holidays, The Butcher’s Daughter invites readers to experience authentic Italian Christmas favorites like the Feast of the Seven Fishes seafood salad, Struffoli, and Crispelle, alongside year-round staples including maccheroni al mano, carciofi ripieni, ’nduja sauce, and Sunday sugo with braised meats. Signature Calabrian treats, such as wine and honey biscuits, preserve the flavors and stories that have shaped generations.

“This book is about more than food,” says Maria Teresa. “It’s about longing for loved ones, cherishing memories, and honoring the past through meals we continue to cook.”

Altomonte’s Italian Market remains a community landmark, celebrated for warmth, hospitality, and devotion to quality. Through The Butcher’s Daughter, the Grispinos invite locals — and readers everywhere — to gather around the table, celebrate heritage, and experience the flavors and stories that define their family and Bucks County.

The Butcher’s Daughter will be published December 19, in hardcover, 384 pages, $45. Pre-order at alto-imports.com/shop.
