The Friends of the Doylestown Library will host three free upcoming programs at the Doylestown Library, located at 150 S. Pine St.

Black Out Poetry, Saturday, March 29, 1 to 3 pm:  This form of “found poetry” allows you to select words that catch your interest from newspapers, books, or other printed texts, and construct your own poem by blacking out parts of the original material. The words left behind reveal your poem. Presented by local artist/educator Nancy Taylor, Black Out Poetry is appropriate for ages 14 and up. All supplies will be provided. Pre-registration is required. Email friendsofdoylestownlibrary@gmail.com. This program supports basic literacy.

Getting a Good Night’s Sleep, April 15, 1 to 2 pm: If sleep eludes you (especially as Tax Day approaches), this workshop is for you. Kellye Remshifski, director of community health and outreach with Doylestown Health, will present strategies and tips that you can start applying today for a more rested tomorrow. This program supports health literacy.

Improv Night: An Event for All Ages, Thursday, April 17 (rescheduled from March 27), 6:30 to 8 pm: Rick Horner and his troupe of local performers invite you to discover the world again through improvisational comedy. According to Horner, part of the magic that improv brings is when the entire room imagines a new world together for the first time. This program supports civic and social literacy.

These free programs are supported by Friends of the Doylestown Library fundraisers (cash, credit cards and Venmo accepted):

Second Annual Arts & Crafts Fair, Saturday, April 5, 10 am to 3 pm, at Lenape Valley Church, 321 W. Butler Ave., New Britain – 31 vendors, free admission and parking, purchased refreshments and raffle.

Spring Community Book Sale, Saturday, April 26, 9:15 am to 4:45 pm, and Sunday, April 27, 1:15 am to 4:45 pm: Gently-used books $2 each; children’s books two for a dollar.
